Der Begriff „Kryptid“ ist zum einen also kategorisierend indem er angewandt wird, sobald klar definierte Bedingungen zutreffen und zum anderen phänomenologisch, indem er die Erscheinung der (auch von nur vorgestellten, gedachten) Wesen ohne Individualität und/oder ihr Wesen erfassend bezeichnet.
